Laminate vs LVT Flooring: Ultimate Comparison
Flooring Monster Team·30 August 2025· 1 min read
Same price, very different floors. One ages well, one doesn't.
Laminate is HDF with a printed paper top. LVT is rigid vinyl with a printed décor and protective wear layer.
Water: LVT is 100% waterproof. Laminate swells and de-laminates at the joints.
Underfoot: laminate sounds and feels harder; LVT is warmer and quieter.
Lifespan: budget laminate 5–8 years; mid-range LVT 15–25 years.
Price overlap is the trap. Spend £25/m² on LVT, not £25/m² on laminate.
