Subfloor Preparation & Recommended Adhesives (BS 8203 Standards)

To guarantee a flawless, lifetime installation, subfloor preparation must strictly adhere to British Standard BS 8203:

1. Moisture Testing: Concrete subfloors must be tested using a relative humidity (RH) probe. The subfloor relative humidity must be below 75% RH before installation. For readings above 75% RH, a liquid damp proof membrane (DPM) must be applied.
2. Anhydrite Screeds: Calcium sulphate or anhydrite screeds must be fully dry, sanded to remove laitance, and primed with an acrylic primer before smoothing compound application.
3. Timber Subfloors: Wooden floorboards must be overlaid with a minimum of 6mm flooring-grade plywood conforming to SP101 standards, fixed at 150mm centers.

Recommended Adhesives:

• Standard Residential Areas: Use Amtico SF Adhesive (acrylic-based, high-tack adhesive).
• Wet Areas & Underfloor Heating: Use Amtico HT (High Temperature) Adhesive to prevent movement under thermal expansion.
• Direct Sunlight (Conservatories): Use Amtico PSA (Pressure Sensitive) or HT Adhesive.
